In conversation with Chi-chi Nwanoku of the Chineke! Foundation

Self-belief, galvanising talent and supporters plus boosting the future pipeline. That's what drove Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE to launch Chineke! in 2015 to provide outstanding career opportunities to established and up-and-coming Black and ethnically diverse classical musicians across Europe. 

Chineke!'s motto is 'championing change and celebrating diversity in classical music and the organisation aims to be a catalyst for change, realising existing diversity targets within the industry by increasing the representation of Black and ethnically diverse musicians in British and European orchestras.

In our first IRL event since lockdown one, back in the WO London studio, our strategy director Anj Joseph chatted to Chi-chi about her journey in launching Europe's first majority Black and ethnically diverse orchestra, her passion for encouraging the next generation into classical music, and the lessons that brands can take on disrupting traditional industries.
