The coming together of two businesses

During the merger of Lloyds TSB with HBOS, Wolff Olins helped create the Lloyds Banking Group brand with the objective of becoming the UK’s leading financial services company. This coming together created the largest retail bank in the UK; with one in three people and in five small and medium-sized companies banking with them.

New bank, new vision

Working side-by-side with the Group Executive Committee of Lloyds Banking Group we helped to clearly articulate a compelling vision for the Group and its five divisions. The objective was to be recognised not just for being the biggest but for being the best financial services company. Lloyds Banking Group want to achieve this by building deep lasting relationships that help their customers achieve what is important to them.

Clarity in uncertain times

By managing a complex network of stakeholders we created a clear and unified blueprint for the new business; this was encapsulated throughout employee communications, to all 140,000 employees on launch of the new bank. We also articulated the behaviours required to help deliver the vision and assessed the strategic implications of changing the brand portfolio.
